ITALKO Wet & Dry Sandpaper Sheets are flexible, waterproof abrasive sheets designed for controlled surface preparation and finishing.

The sharp silicon carbide grain is secured with a synthetic resin bond, providing consistent cutting performance and helping protect the abrasive from premature grain loss.

The flexible impregnated paper backing adapts well to flat, curved and shaped surfaces. Its tear-resistant, anti-slip construction provides improved control during hand sanding, while the waterproof backing does not curl in water and does not require prolonged soaking.

Suitable for both wet and dry sanding, with available grades covering primer preparation, paint matting, surface refinement and fine finishing before polishing.

GRIT GUIDE

• P400 – primer refinement and initial preparation before applying compatible paint systems
• P500 – finer primer preparation and removal of P400 sanding marks
• P600 – final primer sanding and preparation before basecoat application
• P800 – fine surface preparation, paint matting and blending work
• P1000 – fine paint and clearcoat refinement
• P2500 – very fine finishing and preparation of cured paint before polishing

The appropriate grit and sanding sequence depend on the substrate, coating system and required final finish.

APPLICATION

1. Ensure the surface is clean and free from grease, loose material and contamination.
2. Select the appropriate grit for the material and required sanding stage.
3. Use the sheet whole or cut it to the required size.
4. For wet sanding, moisten the sheet and surface with clean water. Prolonged soaking is not required.
5. Sand using light, even pressure, either by hand or with a suitable sanding block.
6. Keep the surface wet and regularly rinse away sanding residue during wet sanding.
7. Inspect the surface frequently and move progressively through the required grit sequence.
8. Clean and dry the surface thoroughly before applying another coating or beginning polishing.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Always confirm the recommended grit sequence for the coating system being processed.
• Do not use excessive pressure, as this may create deep or uneven sanding marks.
• Avoid skipping too many grit stages when preparing a surface for polishing.
• Use clean water and tools to reduce the risk of contamination during wet sanding.
• Use a separate clean sheet when moving between incompatible materials or coatings.
• Test on an inconspicuous area when working with an unfamiliar surface.
• Wear appropriate eye, respiratory and hand protection.
• Ensure electrical tools are suitable for wet use before using them near water.
