ITALKO Foam-Backed Sanding Roll – 115mm × 25m

ITALKO Foam-Backed Sanding Roll is a flexible abrasive material developed for dry manual sanding, particularly in automotive bodywork and refinishing applications.

The soft foam backing conforms to irregular, curved and profiled surfaces, making it suitable for sanding contours, edges, corners and areas that are difficult to process using a sanding machine.

Its cushioned construction distributes hand pressure more evenly across the abrasive surface, helping reduce the risk of localised over-sanding. A special stearate coating helps limit clogging and maintain effective sanding performance.

The roll is perforated, allowing individual sections to be separated quickly without the need for measuring each piece.

GRIT SELECTION GUIDE

• P120–P180 – coarser levelling and intermediate surface preparation
• P240–P360 – refining sanding marks and preparing primers or existing coatings
• P400–P600 – fine sanding and matting before applying compatible coatings
• P800 – very fine surface preparation and refining work

Always select the grit according to the substrate, coating system and required finish.

APPLICATION

1. Select the appropriate grit for the surface and preparation stage.
2. Separate a suitable section of abrasive material along the roll’s perforation.
3. Position the foam-backed abrasive comfortably in the hand.
4. Sand the surface using light, even pressure and controlled movements.
5. Allow the flexible backing to follow the shape of contours, edges and profiles.
6. Remove sanding dust regularly and inspect the developing finish.
7. Progress through finer grits where a smoother finish is required.
8. Replace the abrasive section when worn, damaged or excessively clogged.
