ITALKO Double-Sided Sanding Sponges are flexible hand-sanding abrasives designed for wet and dry surface preparation.

Their soft foam construction conforms to curved, rounded and irregular surfaces, making it easier to sand panel edges, profiles and other areas that are difficult to process using conventional abrasive sheets.

Abrasive material on both sides increases the usable working area, while the pressure-equalising foam helps distribute sanding force more evenly and reduces the risk of localised over-sanding.

Supplied in packs of 10 sponges and available in four grits for coarse and intermediate surface preparation.

GRIT SELECTION GUIDE

• P80 – coarse material removal, rust removal and initial filler shaping
• P100 – coarse-to-intermediate filler levelling and removal of old coatings
• P120 – intermediate sanding and preparation before primer
• P180 – refining previous sanding marks and general surface preparation

Always select the grit according to the substrate, coating system and required finish.

APPLICATION

Dry sanding

1. Ensure the surface is clean and free from loose contamination.
2. Select the appropriate grit.
3. Sand using light, even pressure and controlled movements.
4. Remove sanding dust regularly and inspect the surface.
5. Progress to a finer grit where a smoother finish is required.

Wet sanding

1. Confirm that the surface and coating are suitable for wet sanding.
2. Moisten the sponge and working area with clean water or a compatible sanding liquid.
3. Sand using light pressure while keeping the surface adequately lubricated.
4. Rinse away sanding residue regularly.
5. Clean and dry the surface thoroughly before applying subsequent products.
