ITALKO Glass Fibre Mat

ITALKO Glass Fibre Mat is a structural and surface reinforcement material designed for use with compatible polyester resin.

The mat and resin create a durable laminate that can strengthen and rebuild areas weakened by corrosion, damage or material loss.

Fine glass fibres and an effective binder keep the dry mat cohesive while allowing rapid resin saturation and degassing during application.

The flexible construction conforms easily to shaped surfaces and provides an even fibre distribution throughout the repair.

Available in two grammages—150g/m² and 300g/m²—both supplied as a 0.5m² sheet.

APPLICATION

1. Remove paint, loose corrosion, dirt, grease and other contamination from the repair area.
2. Abrade the surrounding surface to provide suitable adhesion.
3. Cut the glass fibre mat to the required shape and size.
4. Prepare the compatible polyester resin and hardener according to the resin manufacturer’s instructions.
5. Apply a layer of prepared resin to the repair area.
6. Position the glass fibre mat over the wet resin.
7. Saturate the mat thoroughly with additional resin using a suitable brush.
8. Remove trapped air and ensure the fibres are completely wetted.
9. Apply additional layers when required, following the resin manufacturer’s instructions.
10. Allow the laminate to cure completely before sanding or applying subsequent materials.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Polyester resin and hardener are required and are not included.
• Always follow the mixing ratio and application instructions supplied with the resin.
• Do not laminate directly over active rust, grease, moisture or loose material.
• Select the grammage and number of layers according to the required repair strength and laminate thickness.
• Wear suitable gloves, eye protection and respiratory protection during cutting, laminating and sanding.
• Glass fibres and sanding dust may irritate the skin, eyes and respiratory system.
• Refer to the resin label, Technical Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet before use.
